For that sort of difference, you can put a bend through the middle of the Washers, when you tighten them up, just be sure the 'dipped' parts of the washers are what's contacting the flanges. I've done this a few times.

or you could file the back of the inlet manifold tabs (not the gasket face) so they are the same thickness as your LCB

That's what I always do. That way you don't have to worry about alignment of the stepped washer when tightening up.

In preparation for the day that things go wrong .................. while you are about it, file off the bottom of the inlet tabs / lugs, so that you only have to loosen the manifold nuts to lift the carb off.  Do the same with the top of the exhaust tabs / lugs, (but I have found it best to replace the end studs with well Cupasliped bolts) so that you can easily lift the head off.

Just trial fitting my manifolds to the head and I have the same issue. The inlet manifold is thicker than the exhaust so I guess the files will need to come out.

I'm also replacing the studs with hex headed screws but that is another issue ... none of my Allen keys or hex sockets fit. 3/16" too small, 1/4" too large. (Tried metric ones too) Looks like a 7/32" is required!

Also had to put the spacer between the manifold and abutment plate or that pushes onto the centre pipe of the exhaust. (Maniflow)

You could also run a line of weld to one side of the washer, then gently grind it back or give the extra 0.5 thickness

As you’ve already said get the files out the washers aren’t exactly hardened steel took me about 15/20 minutes out of your life, job done.

That looks like a mini/metro inlet manifold and newer exhaust manifold?

Mine had approximately 4mm difference between the two so I had someone make up some stepped washers from some round bar

It is .. inlet for a HIF44 and maniflow exhaust.

Need to measure the difference on mine but the digital calipers are on the blink, but the bar idea looks good.
