I live in vegas where it is hot and dry. My mini has the original rubber springs and they need to be replaced. I was thinking of replacing them with this kit. Any thoughts?

Plenty of past posts on the forum about coil springs. Most kits are poorly designed and severe damage to subframes is the result of the springs going coil bound on full compression.

Generally not recommended unless specific modifications have been made and the car is being used exclusively on a perfectly smooth surface, like a race track.

The rubber cones are superior in almost every way for a road going car.

Coil springs are ideal, for closing the valves, but absolutely not for the suspension on a Mini.

Read people's comments on these in past threads.
That should see you buying new cones đź‘Ť

Minis have complex suspension requirements. Limited wheel travel, low weight with, potentially, a big range of gross loaded weight. That's why the engineers chose rubber. It would be hard to achieve the same with steel springs & nigh on impossible in a setup designed to be optimal for rubber cones.

Had some coil springs, but after a year I replaced them by new rubber cones. Now my ride is much better. Also if a coil spring snaps on the motorway you don't want to know what happends..

↑This.

I bought my car with coils, it was crap. Changed to cones and it's much improved.

Use the Evo donuts from Minispares; I fitted them to my RSP last summer.

As everybody else has said.  NO.  My mini had them fitted when I bought it.  The handling was frightening on twisty roads,  turn in was weird.  I replaced with new rubber cones, and I was amazed at how soft the ride was and the handling returned to what a Mini should be like.   On removal, one of the rear Hi-Lo adjusters was found to be bent due to the bottoming out described above.

Just because we fit them to race cars does not mean they are any good. It just means we can play with them. And the fastest Minis track Minis Don’t use them.

Recently came across "struts" for the Mini....springs over the actual shocks....nothing in the cones location. That seems like a very poor idea as all loading now must go through the body panel that used to just take the shock absorber/dampener loading.

Commonly know as Coil overs. Again without body mods they mount in totally the wrong location not to mention the forces.
