I think many of the regulars here know of my luv (not) for anything IT.
I stumbled over this one today and it did give me a chuckle
Has anyone else found anything that's bought a smile to your dial ?

For me it's the stuff customers message about after they buy stuff from from my work (sometimes even before).
Customer claimed they received the server and it doesn't have the SSDs. I checked the recorded details and it definitely had them in it. They then sent a photo to prove they aren't there and of course they were in the photo.
Customer bought a server and was wondering why they weren't getting the configuration page for their ESXi installation. As usual the customer was convinced it was our fault. got them to send screenshots of their IP address configurations. Turns out they had set both the server and client to the same address. Never heard anymore once I replied telling them.
Another one wondered why the server they bought wasn't working. They thought when they plugged it in that it would just be working. They didn't realise that there was a power button or that they needed to use it.
I am not sure why these people are buying servers or what they are doing with them, it's a bit concerning but luckily it isn't my problem. Anyway that's probably the best part of my job, what has a customer done now.

What's a server?
Manufacturers put a small server in their cars, to stop you being able to service them.

Yeah, I didn't expect most to understand 100% but I think most should understand enough to know how funny it would be for me.
IP addresses are (basically) unique numbers per device, two can't share one. The power button is pretty obvious

What's a server?
For example when you connect to this forum you are connecting to a server. The forum is stored on a server. Websites all work the same way.
It's just a computer designed for hosting stuff for multiple users. You could just replace wherever I say server with computer and it'll be fine.

Printers are universally hated, I don't think anyone likes them. Not complaining that I didn't get the job installing them.

Hi Guys and Gals
I do know what a server is, I just thought I would throw the comment in for a laugh.
As mentioned in another topic one of my printers described a beautiful arc as it travelled from the study window to ending up on the lawn in a few hundred pieces. For all the above reasons.
Bloody annoying though it hit the bay window roof on the way down breaking a couple of tiles.
