Hi folks scratching my head on this one , Paid lots money for carbs tuned , new petrol pipes from twin tanks at back as the ones i had were dangerous , timing done and pipes for carbs fitted , the car was running fine

i had not used it for a while and turned it over and nothing but when i put easy start in it fires up right away !!!!

I did notice the fuel in the filter was bit cloudy and guy i dealt with said to check needles not sticking and floats ok , I did that freeing up floats and checking needles and everything associated with it and it only fires up

when easy start is sprayed in .

The colour of the fuel seems to be clearer , could it just be dirty fuel ?

I have also cleaned spark plugs and electronic ignition seems fine as it was running ok before i think it is something simple but i am bamboozled at moment please help me .

kind regards stuart

How long has the car been stood? Sounds like the fuel may be off

I would definitely start by putting fresh fuel in the carbs. You could take the float bowl tops off and will them up with fresh Super Unleaded and so if if starts and runs.

Then you will know if it is a fuel issue. modern fuels go off quite quickly when left in tanks.

Thanks again guys will keep you posted i have my suspicions especially after the fuel filter does not seem as cloudy after i turned it over with the 2 gallons in both tanks perhaps it just has not reached the floats yet

The smell is one way and then the darkness. If it has been sitting for less than a year I doubt it is why it isn't starting.

If there is fuel in the float bowl then check that the fuel is reaching the bottom of the jet, a kink in the bowl to needle hose will stop fuel. If there is fuel at the jet then try starting with the throttle open via the accelerator pedal.

Probably takes 2 or three tanks worth of fuel,to clean out the tank of old fuel. There are additives that can be added for extra oooph

The float bowls on both occasions were full but the fuel filter was cloudy it is now clear bit hesitant to touch jets as all been tuned , i have put an additive in it for more oomph will try at weekend , i am sure it is just a fuel problem any more advise

before i start ?  I will try with throttle open before choke .

I have put 5 litres in each tank . I will also try fresh super unleaded in the float bowls

cheers

Take the suction chamber off the carb and look down and see if there is fuel in the jet.
