I've spent far too long trying to attach a bleed pipe to the clutch slave cylinder. So little access! Car is a YKG2S2 mk1 cooper S 1275. Does anyone have any bright ideas?.

Extend the bleed point to the front of the engine.

You don't really need a bleed pipe. Just get someone to build pressure with the pedal and hold it there. Open the screw and quickly close it again. Repeat a few times until the clutch works properly. The pipe is a luxury that helps you see there are no bubbles. But whether you can see them or not doesn't really alter the procedure.

I would say that a Mk1 Cooper S would be relatively straightforward compared to the latest model (Mk7?) - I don't have particularly flexible fingers but I would take the former over the latter if I had to bleed one

I agree completely and have uttered it many times but not as often as bleeding brakes. ;-)

I use one of these kits. One of the pointy ends will be a firm fit to the bleed nipple. You can also run the bleed pipe all the way to the master (assuming it’s all new fluid)

You can also remove the slave cylinder from the clutch housing and put it in a plastic tub to save making a mess

i usually get someone to pump pedal and just put a cloth under bleed nipple to catch fluid so little needs bleeding compared to brakes

I would suggest taking the pipe out the master cylinder and replacing for test only with a bleed nipple. This is to test the master cylinder and to make sure it can hold pressure its self..

Then you will know the pipes are all good.. also never rule out the slave cylinder. Make sure it will move freely..
