Hi, I'm finding my mini has low power when driving up hill, it's fine on the flat. I'm guessing this has something to do with the compression, but could someone let me know how to confirm this please, also if it is what I can do to improve it. Thanks, James.

Erm in what gear are you driving up hills? How steep are the hills?

Try changing down a gear !!!

You might want to give folks a bit more information as well. Such as, what engine you're running, mods etc. When was the last time it had a service/was tuned? Etc etc.

It could be anything. And without knowing any history of the car, ie when it was last touched/anything changed/new car to them etc it's very difficult to say anything !

a bit OT but yes, lighter flywheels hamper uphill performance slightly.

But surely the engine is turning less inertia, so it can rev easier, and hence not struggle as much going up hill? I would have thought the downfall or a lightweight flywheel is matched or outweighed by the advantage?

that's why i put 'slightly', as it's easy to overcome.
