I imported 2 Minis from the UK to the US and have running issues with both.  No one near me knows anything about them so I'm really stuck.  The 1993 is the immediate problem.  It doesn't have spark and the fuel pump doesn't activate/no fuel flow.  It started when I was cleaning up the contacts one at a time on the fuse box because the directional indicators didn't work.  I heard a  relay chatter it seemed from the relays on the left bulkhead of the engine bay.  The car originally ran great minus the directional indicators and now it was completely dead/nothing.  I ended up towing it to a local electrical shop.  They've put 8 hours into it ($1200), replaced the relay pack and it now turns over but there's no spark and the fuel pump is not energizing.  I now need to remove it from this shop.   If I swap the SPI for a carb, will this eliminate the ECU and take care of the fuel pump and spark issues?  Any advice will help.  I'm at the end with this thing, nobody locally will touch it.  Thanks

This really depends on your technical ability.

I would say get a test light and work your way around.

Be methodical and check everything individually.

Test fuel pump. Test earths. Test fusebox and I line fuses. Test starter. Test battery.

Work your way around the car and see what you get.

Theminiforum are always here to help and assist...

The 1993 spi is a strange beast as far as minis go. Works off many vacumes and sensors.

Get a decent wiring diagram.
