It's been 5 years since I put my rebuilt engine in and today I had some starting issues and we found it was the coil, as it wasn't producing a very good spark. So we put the old unmarked one back one and it seemed fine and started.

I have this one:

My question is, which coil should I be running with my set up, which is

Metro A+ 1275cc bored to 1293cc. It has a HIF44 1.75” Carb, Newman 270 cam, recon cylinder head with 35.6mm inlet valves, exhaust standard size, not been ported. Mini Spares alloy inlet and Maniflow LCB.
It has a Powerspark electronic distributor, but it was worked on by H & H with their magic and has been running flawlessly since. and it has the vacuum advance.

I've just fitted a powerspark kit to my latest build, they recommend a coil above 1.5ohm and preferably 3.0ohm, I've fitted a flame thrower version.

I have exactly the same engine, including the H&H electronic dizzy. My coil came with the dizzy from H&H and is a 0.9 ohm, which suited my mainstream cooper anyway.

The coil I have is a GCL143 from Minispares.

Thanks both, maybe I'll speak to H & H and ask which one

H & H replied and recommended the Lucas gold coil, which Mini Spares also sell.

So it sounds like thats the best buy, over the one that has failed.
