Do you actually need to make the hole bigger in the bracket and the car to fit the yellow band master cylinder?

if you mean converting from the older style to the newer style then I believe so yes

the newer bracket looks like this https://www.ebay.co....:Bk9SR4DDj5bIYw

personally I'd probably buy one like that, clean it up and use that.  also use as a template for the adjustments to the crossmember hole ?

presumably also gasket is different

are the pedal box stud locations the same ?  I'd check that as well

If it's a single circuit (pre 76) car, the pedal box is different. It'll fit, but be wary of reserve pedal travel. A GMC227 will be the better choice of dual circuit masters.

... just noticed the Ozzie location. I'd seek out what Spider has had to say on the subject, think there could be some legality question.

Cheers Ethel.

They are not legal for use in Australia, and if you are fitting it so you'll have 'fail safe brakes' they don't provide that either.

The GMC167 is the only approved Cylinder, but even these don't provide 'fail safe brakes'.
