Hi Thanks for the replies.

 

I double checked the wiring on the front indicators. I put the wires the wrong way round on the NS front. ( idiot) so now ok.

Hi. anybody had issues with indicator. New indicators, new wiring loom. basically everything new.  mk1 mini.  can hear 1 click on the relay when I move the stalk up. but thats it. horn works ok,

 

any ideas

Do the external lights come on when you operate the column switch ?.

sorry not sure what you mean. The lights work on the light switch. and the main beam works on the floor switch.

 

does the body of the flasher relay need to be earthed?

I'm assuming he meant do the indicator lamps light up on the outside of the car when it does that one click

 

is the colulmn switch / stalk still original, they can get gunked up and not provide a good connection

 

are the lamps still standard or have you fitted LED's

 

no I don't think the body needs earth/ground

So had you fitted LEDs?

no, the old light headlight where ok, so I used them. and kept the indicators original

Didn't think 'normal' indicators were polarity sensitive?

Indicator flashers are supposed to be failsafe - the contacts start closed so they should at least light. If there are bulbs out then they should flash slowly, or not all all (sometimes the loose blown filament shorts the bulb though). If there's a short more current will generate heat more quickly in the bimetallic flashing thing 'n they'll go in to disco mode.
