As per title really, My Haynes manual is not helping, nor Mrs Google have answer on hand. Stripping the unknown engine, gone as far as this bold, and - I dont have such 12 sided socket. Metric? Imperial? Thanks in advance:)

It's just a standard 12 pointed socket that's needed and I seem to recall these being 1/2".

But a six-sided socket will also fit .. 1/2" AF .. remember very little on Classic Minis is metric and then usually confined to threads on the braking system.

A 6 sided socket won’t fit A+ con rod nuts - they are a multipoint flanged nut CAM6263.

1/2” AF is the correct size socket. Or if you’re undoing you might get away with a ring spanner (and the ‘fitters’ uncaring cheat of using a second for more leverage).

Sorry a bit of brain fade today ... I got the sides the wrong way round .. Apologies! But 12-sided sockets should be fairly common in t'interweb.
