Good morning all. I'm having trouble fitting the rear quarter glass back, it cam out of the car surely it should go back in 🤦♂️
Anyway so it's 1992 fixed type rear quarter I've brought new rubber seals but when offering up the window an rubber together to do the string method it's like an inch to big. I don't know if I. Missing something. Even if I offer the window up to where it should go without the rubber it seams like hardly any room Even for a rubber.
Please send help.
Hope you can understand my poor grammar and spelling.

Are you sure the glass you have is the fixed type?
Fixed glass is a different size to opening glass rear side windows.
Mk3 onwards rear side windows are also taller than Mk1/2 Mini rear side windows.

I took it out and it was fixed admittedly had to cut it out but it was definitely in a fixed seal

Have you got the seal on the right way round, it looks odd when you do it but it almost looks like it's on the wrong way when it IS on the correct way

Yeah I could do with a picture of how it should go really because I'm not 100% sure I'm putting it in right lol
Also I cant find the measurements for the different glasses fixed/opening or mk1/2, my registration and vin say its a 1992 but I don't know if the shell is. It's my first mini so I'm new to this world 🤣

The glass should be bigger than the hole for it.. it does not actually sit in the hole it sits on the outside of the hole and the seal is there to hold the glass and stop water leaks...

So it's got a 1 TO 2mm gap around the glass and the body can't see how I'm going to fit it back in! Unless I've got the wrong rubber! Is the fixed seal the same for every year?

Mine were very difficult to fit also, but lots of patience and lubrication got it done in the end. Have you got a screen fitting tool to help lift up the rubber over the seams?
Here's how the seal should look from outside and inside...
