I've just got a 1275 engine that has a set of rocker arms on it that I'm not familiar with. 

 

They have a stamped number on them which I think is AEA691  HE81 but it is not very clear so that might well be wrong.

 

Does anyone regonise them and happen to know what ratio they might be? Thank you.

They were generally fitted to the Cooper S's (in the 60's), but I wouldn't get excited over them.

 

They are a forged rocker, but their ratios are all over the place, anything from as low as 1.15:1 to about 1.28:1. You need to go though loads and loads of them to fit a good ratio to make a set of 8.

Thanks Spider, so nothing too good. Would I be better off ditching these and going for a standard rocker set up? Going on a 1275 road engine, nothing special, maybe a Evo 001 cam and decent inlet and exhaust system.

There's a lot of rockers about, many after market items, some good and some not so good.

Personally, after trying quite a lot my favorites for any road car are either the Pressed Steel Factory items - they have a good accuracy and if memory serves, have a ration of 1.28:1, also quite serviceable.

My other favorites are MED's 1.3:1 Roll Rockers.

To add another idea into the mix, sell off your original rockers to the rivet counter brigade who seem to highly regard the originals and buy the Keith Calver rockers ( your ratio of choice) I've just fitted a set to my latest engine build, the quality is excellent, may I also suggest you don't buy the MS rockers the quality in comparison to KC'S is total sh##e.

PS If the adjuster screws have to be set as per your pictures you might want to investigate your geometry as you'll be loosing lift at the valve.
