I know it's common for one of the rear stub axles to be reverse thread, I've discovered that both my stud axles are reverse thread, would this be a problem?

i guess someone in the past has fitted the same stub axle to both sides which means the side with wrong thread direction is more likely to become undone in use...therefore removing the extra 'safety factor' that was built in at the factory production line.

Thanks, I've also asked on a local group here in South Africa and it seems I'm not the only one with this. Considering I have this car for around 23years, though most of those years had the car parked and I hardly used it prior to being parked. I doubt the stub axles were charged since they left the factory.

The reverse thread is really just an added 'safety factor' which may have been omitted in some factory production or maybe during a factory parts shortage. As long as the castle hub nut is torqued up correctly and a split pin fitted it is unlikely you will have any problems. Especially on a low mileage classic car which is easy to do diy maintenance checks on occasionally.
