I think I know the answer here but I assume this rear subframe is knackered, I have just had it sand blasted and powder coated but when fitting it I noticed this hole, any advise

There are repair sections, but if that's like that, is the rest good enough to justify the effort?

The rest of it does seem fine, I’ll have to find someone who can go about fitting the repair panel

You could just weld a bit of plate over it so long as you do a good job and use metal of the right thickness.

subframes in that area tend to rot from the inside out as crud collects between the panels above, so i would have a good poke about (with a sharp screwdriver!) at the sections above (and the same area on the other side) to find out just how solid it is.

I'm surprised the shotblasters powder coated it looking like that. It could be repaired but it would probably be better to replace with new unless the car is just being repaired to keep it on the road.

I bought a powder coated rear subframe from Bull Motif for £295 delivered (my old one was bent) and it’s an excellent quality product. I’m not sure I’d go to the trouble of having a rotting subframe welded if it might fail again in a few years.
