That's one way !
I just use a No.1 Phillips Screw Driver in the hole for the Roll Pin in the Selector Shaft - I have been meaning to make T handle though. On reason that I do like this is I can feel much better what's going on as I row through the gears.

Agreed as I also use a screw driver as my set up above unfortunately too much movement in the box. So Spider, it is tough to move 3/4 and assume that is okay considering limited oil and everything is dry correct?

It can need a bit of effort. It's a worry when it takes no effort !

Think of where the fulcrum is on the gear lever - it provides a lot of ‘assistance’…

That is very comforting and did the screw driver challenge and with a little effort everything sifted from 1-4 and also reverse - gonna bolt on Diff and maybe sitting for a month before engine comes back so was thinking coat with "lube oil" and cover it up with a clear bag to avoid dirt and crap flying around the garage? - oh and here's the car getting full body work and prepped for painting (going with a cooper S look - with colour matching steel rims;

For sure oil up the gearbox and I find putting them in garbage bags (2) is an 'easy' way to cover them up.
Wow, still a long way to go with the rest of the car !
