driving to work today in my mini van that has a1275 mg metro engine in it started to run poorly but it was only 10 minutes into driving her so figured she was sill a bit cold but then the engine cut out and wouldn't turn over like the battery was disconnected  still had electrical power however after 10/15 minutes she came back to life and started again any ideas?

Maybe fuel system venting, carb or tank breather, or something in the ignition overheating. If it has the anti run-on valve still it might be that.

It doesn't. You have to use a vented cap.

Not sure how that would stop the engine from turning over though...

Me neither to be honest it started again after 10 minutes but at first it died as I approached a junction and just wouldn’t crank at all like the battery was disconnected but it was also running rough that morning

Also be aware that batteries can have internal faults too.

My bad, as the cool kids say.

I got fixated on the Metty bit, I guess.

Poor battery connections shouldn't matter too much once it's started & the alternator is doing its stuff. The ignition switch maybe? S'pose you might have some extra tinkering too, if it's a pre engaged starter in an inertia equipped van - earth screws if your using a body mounted solenoid as a starter relay? Though that should affect a running engine either.

I would suspect the coil as you say it improved when you left it a bit.
Good luck
