a bit like nbanded wheels i have never sen any proof!!
tractors and lorries use inner tubes and they are allowed on the road.
also surely a split rim is just as bad as a banded rim????
looked at a reverse rim today and the inner centre part is held on by 4 rivets and thats it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
sorry for slight deviation
i want to see proof!!!

Total cost was going to be around 600 including one replacement outer rim, decided not to take the risk of getting them back leaking again and paid 1500 for a new set....if you search under BBS split rims on google there is a really good description on how to rebuild the VW BBS split rims, I didn't fancy trying it, risk vs cost was too high..........
You shouldn't need inner tubes...the point of split rims is there light and the rims can be replaced, in practice not many places what to repair them, for the same reasons I didn't want to do it myself, risk of leaks following repair, cost is high and potential that co has big outlay and has to refund due to leaks etc...
Sure inner tube al work but kinda countracts the point of a split rim!

Inner tubes are illegal aren't they?
My father who restores and collects pre war austin sevens has inner tubes in all of the wheels on his cars, so i dont think its an issue.
