Did they just not want my custom? ok, well, i'm sorry for deviating form the original topic, i shall crawl back into my hole and fins some tubes! :woot:

I heard that it was illegal to run tubes in tyres that are state they are tubeless tyres. As people say, I haven't seen proof that its illegal, nor can I see how anyone would find out...

eh?... did you mean to say you'd heard that it's illegal to run tubes, unless the tyres state they can be run with tubes in them?

I WANT TO SEE PROOF!!!!!!

we have policemen on the site surely they can find out

i have seen a puncture fixed on a tyre that says it is tubeless by putting in a tube.

surely if it says tubeless it is just saying that it is possible to run tubeless

Found this little extract on the national tyres website

NOTE: NEVER FIT AN INNER TUBE WITH A TUBELESS TYRE EXCEPT ON A TUBE TYPE WHEEL

And all this of the site Retro 10's put up:

TUBES IN TUBELESS TYRES

Inner tubes of the correct size and type may be used if correctly fitted.

It must, however, be emphasised that the result of fitting tubes in tubeless tyres is that, in the event of a puncture, the assembly will behave in exactly the same way as a tube tyre and tube assembly – i.e. it is likely to lose pressure more rapidly than a tubeless tyre assembly.

Where tubes of certain low profile tubeless tyres are not available, an alternative tube size should not be fitted.

TUBE TYPE TYRES

Tyres which are marked ‘Tube Type’ or are not marked ‘Tubeless’ must be fitted with an inner tube. Some vehicle manufactures recommend that only tubed type tyres are fitted to their vehicles. It is important that the advice in the owner’s handbook is followed. A new tube should be fitted when the tyre is being replaced.

Maybe rims designed for tubeless tyres aren't shaped very nicely for tubes and/or they don't bother removing sharp bits that may puncture/wear/rub on the tube, same maybe true of the tyres (since all that is important for tubeless is the rim seal). Perhaps with the tube tyres care is taken in the design of the inside of the tyre and all the pokie mould spikes which may rub on the tub are removed? This is the only difference I can imagine? Can't see why it would be illegal, but maybe not very safe if at high speed (and thus high temperature/pressure) the tube rubs against tyre/rim imperfections causing a sudden deflation.

i had 10inch tubes put on my front wellers because there was a bit of rust on the lip and it "might" leak. These were fitted by a local tyre garage, they never mentioned anything about illegalness either.

lmfao

where is this post ging lmao

im a trainer and i teach this stuff day in day out lol, tube are NOT illegal lol

reason why your not ment to have tubes with alloys is due to (to be best knoledge) is becouse the tyres inside these's days are rough and corning etc would cause friction and heat on the inner tube. the rims for steel rims normaly have a smoother inside to them there for allowing inner tubes to be fitted. there are still alot of cars out there what have inner tubes fitted to them.but thees nothing stopping you fitting tubes to alloys, 9/10 times itwill be fine anyways. i dont want that extra weight on my wheels but if needs be i will fit inners (but i dont want to)

but back to may first question hows best to seal the 2 faces together as im not fitting inner tubes to mine and i want the best i can get from them eg NO leaks lol,

the bolts ive seen on the famouse Ebay nice and cheep ish so will most prob get them. but not buying anything till i know how to seal them. it might just be a face to face fit with no gasket? but thats what im asking everyone lol
