Hi all
I have recently had my Hiff 44 carb refurbed and I set it up following some videos on YouTube. Everything was great it started and ran the best it ever has it has a slight flat spot which I was going to look into but other than that it was great.

I did some work on the ignition system and somewhere along the way something has changed.
I set the points changed the rotar arm and new dizzy cap.
I started and ran the engine between each item change so if I did anything wrong it would be obvious what it was. Car has sat on axel stands for a couple of weeks whilst I was changing some of perished rubbers items. I got everything finished up and thought I’d do a test drive. The engine struggled to start and when it did sounded like a tractor with rough running.

Fuel filter is new and was put on the same time as the refurbed carb. The only thing I can think of is I have messed up setting the points. Would this cause a misfire? I have checked the HT leads and everything looks good, I even did them one at a time when changing the dizzy cap so I shouldn’t have got that wrong.

Any ideas?

Where is the fuel filter located?

Did you change the condenser? It could also be loose even if you didn't change it.

If you post a picture of the engine bay then we might be able to spot something.

Thanks for your reply

I didn’t change the condenser. I will check if it’s loose though.

The fuel filter is an inline one located in the engine bay just before the carb.

The mini is in my lock up so will take a pic hopefully tomorrow.

I did notice the breather pipe to the carb had split but after changing that wasn’t the issue.
