I am currently using 13" ultralite wheels on my Mini with a set of A539 fitted. But they are starting to age(8 years) and I am thinking about replacing them. But the question is what to replace them with.
I am considering changing from the 13" to 12" still in a wide tyre since I got the sportpack wheel arches. The reason for the size change would be a hope for a better ride since the profile would change from 50mm to 60mm tyre thickness. But I am not sure if the difference in handling is worth the expense of new rims?
As for the tires, I am only driving the car in the summer, and avoid the rain the best I can, so I was thinking of trying the Nankang AR-1 which is be a more trackday minded tyre, but how would it perform on the road? It seems to be road legal.
The car is a summer toy car with a 1380cc engine rolled in at 98hk in a fast road setup with 8,4” front disc brakes, which is why I am considering the AR-1 as a replacement.
