Just compare the stainless rims back to back with the originals and ask Minispares to do the same.

It’s nothing to do with the headlight or its position, there’s an inner steel ring that retains the lens itself, the outer ring should be a nice fit over these and clearly from your original photo they’re not.

I’ve become tired of Minispares quality and clear lack of customer focus. It’s great having a discount through TMF but I’d prefer no discount and pay a little more if we could have decent parts. I’m doing a substantial rebuild running to many £1000s and bought all my BMH panels through Bull Motif, I made a conscious decision because it was a big spend to shop elsewhere and not give Minispares the business. I continue to buy smaller items but now buy the “original” choice as much as possible.

Minispares if you’re reading this, wake up, you’re supposedly the premier Mini parts supplier but you’ve taken your eye off the ball.

Have brought the headlamp forward as far as possible - to be fair it’s an improvement but unfortunately the gap is still too big in my view

If anybody has an MPI with OEM headlight rims, I would be very grateful if you could post a photo of the headlight in profile to show how much the inner bezel/headlight protrudes beyond the headlight rim (if at all).

Thinking back to my days of Quadoptics if I remember correctly the lens was quite flat compared to the Lucas units and the bezels never did look right, there always seemed to be a bigger gap.

If you had some Lucas units about try fitting one and see if the sizing is any better.

This has nothing to do with the headlight lens, the shape of the glass etc, the bezels are just too big.
