yes fikus the spi is tuneable lol
have you connected the rev counter up?
i think it is just the mpi that does the weird rev counter thing.

ok so the best thing is to fit it and then see what is happening. One thing is i cant fit it yet until i get my dash which will be in the next two weeks. or should i just fit it now. it doesnt have the black plastic thing on it tho so it will be all exposed. lol

ok i cant be bothered to wait for dash yet want to get this out of the way. I have fitted everything and it all works. Well when i say ive fitted everything i mean all but rev counter. The reason being that i cant find any where that sells the bullet connections to fit so anyone got any ideas as to who might sell them my local car accessory place doesnt have any small enough. Thanks in advance Lee

Well, the type of rev counter in those clocks is incompatible with your cars wiring and systems. As has been said above. As John (Guessworks) said this type of tacho doesn't run off a trigger feed from the coil but must be in line with the supply to the coil itself and senses off that, which the injection system does not like. The wiring system of the Mini was redesigned in '76 and any rev counter used after that date is a trigger type which will work but earlier cars tachos will not. Sorry if you have already wired it like that but reading the thread it sounds like you've just sort of ignored what Guessworks said and it's fairly important.
And will someone please confiscate Fikus' exclaimation mark key.
