We left gatwick to Dover with 100%. Ferry to calais and a hotel for the night at 77%
8am start and to Rouen which took 2.5 hours. Charge for 25 minutes and a well deserved cuppa and a wee for the kids.
Then Le Mans for lunch in a 2 hour stint as we charged for 35 minutes. Then to Plage de Moulettes for the caravan and we still had 35% left after a 2.5 hour drive with a lot of traffic around Nantes.
Then 4 days in the caravan charging at a low 5 amp so I didn't blow any fuses. Then the same trip back. Free charging on the ferry. Total charging time on the road was 50 minutes in each direction. We had lunch at 2 of those stops and a cuppa at the other 2. We could have charged for less time but we weren't in a rush. Total cost of charging for approx 850 miles of driving was 32 quid using tesla supercharger. French roads are awesome. Whisper quiet pinned at 137kmh.
If we had a diesel we could have 1 stopped each way but with the kids we had to stop anyway.
In our old zafira it would have been at least 3 stops for petrol at a cost of 200 quid and an unpleasant drive
Conclusion. Wont go back to petrol. However we do charge on our drive at 7p a kWh and for us it works well

Also interesting to see how 'smart' EV's can collect all your personal data, movements, reactions and even the public chargers do the same but with poor security or controls on who your personal info gets shared with or preventing hacking....

As much as I dislike EV's, they're not the only cars that collect info constantly.

We deliberately had a conversation about building a bomb to destroy Nigel Farage and his cronies, sadly no adverts for Semtex and other materials appeared on my phone :-(

Regularly, but they’re the goons from Chequers stopping off at the coffee shop.

I’m sure EVs and chargers do collect personal location data which isn’t really warranted and I don’t like it either but it’s not really any different that what your smart phone is gathering or using a Tesco or nectar card. They know what shop in what town at what time and what you bought and most people are happy or oblivious about it because you get the incentive of gaining points to get something free or cheaper in the future from the shop or giving them even more info if you spend the points from the shop on purchasing an Alton towers tickets or ferry crossing etc
There are S(steak)pies everywhere.
Everyone seems to be collecting data. I’m not sure why my mortgage company seem to want to know how many biscuits in the biscuit barrel there are. But when I say 5263 there is stunned silence.

This came up on my FB feed recently, I know it's American but it does put things into perspective quite nicely.

80 x 12 = 960 x 52 = 49920 it isn't that far out given its an ad I presume.

I forgot to calculate leap years in which would make it pretty spot on actually, some one obviously look a bit of time before they posted it.

But not enough to compare the purchase price and greater fuel costs of a comparable ICE.

And let's not forget service costs. Mine clocked 60k last year and so far routine servicing has cost me about £100 for a cabin filter, a pair of wiper blades, and an inspection. Could have done it myself but my lease says I have to keep the service record up.  Over  that 60k my previous ICE BMW would have had 2 x Inspection 1 (£215 each), Inspection 2 (£494), Vehicle Check (£109), & Brake Fluid change (£57) under their service regime. So I'm just under £1000 up there over 3 years.

Like any good question, this one doesn't have a simple one size fits all answer. As with any car, however it's powered, which one to choose, how much it costs, the best way to finance it, and everything else depends on the individual and how they use the car they're buying.

Mine’s on 110,000 miles and the only service item likewise has been a pollen filter and wiper blades. No discs or pads or general service.
