Depends as well if its an injection car or not, there is a fair bit more to one of those than a 1960's mini.

I rebuilt an early SPI into anoter shell for someone years ago and I reckon100-120 hours as suggested above to strip and rebuild is about right assuming you dont do any major rebuilding (i.e sub frame out with engine and back in the car as it is.

If you rebuild it all, clean and paint etc then it will be a lot more.

Thank you all for taking the time to share your experiences, suggestions (and humor) with me!

(And please accept my apologies for it being a few days before I could reply and thank everyone)

This has been really helpful in visualizing what I'll be getting myself into, especially the specific bits of advice many offered about certain tools & penetrating fluid, along with the recommended sequence of what to do before other stuff.

As always, you folks have outdid yourselves with your generosity - I wish a Happy Christmas and Joyful Holiday Season to everyone!

Blank cheque(if they still accept these) to the mini parts suppliers as always with these kind of things.

Also depends how good the new shell you have is. Some lovely new heritage shells out there... but also some horrors....

Just enjoy.... if you get annoyed... it is time for a cuppa tea and fresh eyes...

That is the best advise .

Being able to walk away , do something else , for a while

while planning the next thing to do ,

It's so easy to get stuck by the simplest of tasks ,

I find my eye's get tired & brain fog's up, a distraction can be a good thing on long jobs

I think I'll revisit the suggestions of stepping away, having that cuppa tea (even here in the States!) and maybe even sleeping on a problem as all very sound advice when I am in the thick of it.

Thank you both for putting a sage capstone on this thread!

what's American for 'have a cup of tea'

coffee and a bagel?

for some reason I'm now thinking of austin powers 'schmoke and a pankake? waffle and a bong?'  (which might be somewhat counterproductive though)
