That is a good shout and one I’d been keeping an eye on, does seem worth a look it’s just 5hrs drive from me.

I know it won’t be for everyone but I’m also tempted by this ..

If I were you, I’d look for something like this:

I have no personal experience with Paul Higgs, but I know someone who bought a car from him 5 years ago, and it was fine. But like with everything, it’s down to the actual vehicle itself and how much it’s been looked after.

Re: that MPI. If it were me, I’d want the car on original alloys and arches, but maybe that’s your thing.
Also knowing people who have MPIs, they rust terribly, so I’d do a very thorough inspection on it.
Think of it this way, all minis will need bodywork at some point, and do you want to drive and enjoy, or get lumbered with it the hassle and cost.

I’ve still been keeping an eye out, does anyone have any thoughts on Paul Higgs ?

He has what looks like a nice MPI for sale, good mileage, looks in good condition apart from the seam has cracked on the NS Wing to front panel and I think the price seems relatively reasonable from a dealer.

Yes ive heard bad things about mpi’s and rust but took the view of if its lasted this long its probably had most of the rot cut out already, or maybe wishful thinking.

That’s looks ok, but you are paying for someone’s else’s taste. Especially as you aren’t getting the benefits of a genuine mk1, ie. More likely it increase in value and the fact (I am biased) genuine mk1’s are just way cooler.
Hence a highly modified 1994 car is always going to be just that. If you like that one, I would look for a genuine mk1, something like this:
