Hello there - I'm just about to become a new mini owner and am quite excited.
Am picking up a mini on Sunday and was just after any advice anone could give?
She'll be my first car and she's a 1997 R Reg Mini Cooper. She's done 50K.
Just wondered if there were any real common problems in minis of this kind and anything to look out for?
Also wondered what type she is - someone had told me that she's a 1.3i as she is too young to be a carb?
Thanks ..... L
Any advice from those in the know?...

Yes will be an 1300 (1275 actually) injection, and most likely what's called an MPI, Multi point injection.
Common problems...
rust the same as any mini
but another which is very specific to the later minis is a difficulty getting them into 1st gear, I've heard of a number which have had to had new gearboxes, even Cooper 500's

As you say rust is the main problem especially around sills, scutle and kick plates.
