Anyone else using minisport alloy calipers and found a fix for the horrendous pad rattle?
I have 7.9" vented disc's with the supplied mintec pads and it sounds like a horse trotting down the road! Its driving me insane as its not just a litte bit, its like someone is shaking bolts/nuts in a metal tin!
Called minisport and they said it's just how they are designed, EBC pads won't be any different and I should bury everything that isn't a friction surface in copper grease... sounds like a bodge to me?!
500 quid and I'm starting to wish I never bought them!
Hoping someone has a magical resolve!

Pad knock? it’s normal, abundant flats greased? using ceramic brake grease helps over copper for the knock.

I'm not familiar with the minisport caliper, but would it not be possible to fit the original anti rattle spring plates from the metro calipers - assuming they're still available.
I have the KAD 7.9" calipers and I'm certain the springs could be fitted to them if needed.

It is poor caliper design. They flex.

That's what I did on my KAD calipers because it started to sound like the car falling apart.

I'm surprised you're pads rattle in the KAD calipers. Both my Mintex 1144's and the previous Ferrodo pads are a perfect snug fit.

I've got the K4 race calipers, there's a bit more play in them. But my rattle turned out to be more the floating discs. I've got anti rattle springs on order.

I bought a set of the pad shims from Somerford Minispares, they fit perfectly on the alloy calipers.

Thanks guys, I didn't even think to try the original pad retainers! My first thought was to try make some shims but quickly decided that wouldn't end well but I guess a sprung steel retainer pushing between the split pins and the pads as per original should do the same job on these.... will give it a go!

These calipers are just getting me annoyed now!
First the pad rattle....Now the pistons don't seem to be returning enough and the pads are constantly rubbing which is covering the entire car in excessive brake dust!
Do I have any legal stand point on this or do I just give up and chuck them on a shelf in the workshop?
Oh yeah, and one of the discs is bent! So when reversing all you get is a click clak click clak as the pads pick up and drop side per side!

Sadly I can't find what I did with the invoice so don't have a purchase date, I know it was over 6 months ago as they were on my dining table along with all the other shiny bits waiting on the shell getting finished.

Absolutely awful quality products and I will spread the word far and wide to stop as many people going through what I've ended up with!

Consumer Rights act does have limitation of 6 months, but after 6 months it says “If the fault appears after six months, you must prove that the product was faulty when you bought it”.
So as you fitted them way after you bought them and you can prove it, I would gather as much evidence as you can, and send it off to them.
Make sure you head your letter/email “complaint” and say you are claiming under the consumer rights act 2015, you understand its post 6 months, but as above you can prove you didn’t fit them until later, hence it does not matter when you fitted them, the fault was there at time of purchase. You want either a replacement set that are not faulty, or a full refund. If they refuse, threaten small claims court.
It goes without saying, but keep it to the facts and polite, as you will have to provide all your emails to the small claims court, if you go that route.

If you believe the calipers are faulty I'd simply write to minisport and state that not only are they of poor quality but the pistons are seizing and they are unsafe. Provide a timeline of the technical problems and your communications with them. See what they say.

Do you have the invoice in your inbox, or perhaps confirmation of receipt of the order? If not can you check your bank statements to get the transaction date?
