might be worth checking the windscreen wiper motor output cover - they used to have a date stamp on them (ww yy). not sure if that was the case on later ones though..

Worth looking at the VIN plate on the bulkhead and the chassis number stamped on the body, as those are the most reliable way to pin the year down. The number on the plate can be checked against a Mini registry or the owners' club (L&SMOC/MCR) dating info. If the car has been through the DVLA, the V5 should also show the first registration date.
Beyond that, as Shep says, an engine bay shot would help, along with the dash and the rear lights, since a lot of the trim changes are year-specific. The 86/87 guess from Chris looks plausible going by the wheels and trim in the pics, but the numbers will settle it either way.
