If you can whiff fumes are you sure you haven't got a bit of an exhaust leak somewhere?

Is it acceptable to add an extension onto the tail pipe of the RC40? I've always thought ours should have extended further out the back. I wouldn't mind trying it to see if there is any further noise reduction. Daz.

I extended the tail pipe and front pipe of a twin box rc40 in the 80's to make a saloon exhaust fit an estate.

My new Rc40 has arrived. I'll fit it tomorrow and see where the tail pipe ends. I can always order a trim to extend it

The LWB version of the Maniflow RC40 comes with an extension that goes between manifold/downpipe and the front box, plus a tailpipe extension. I imagine the tailpipe is available separately. It's big though and has a rolled end - it's really not subtle.

Alternatively MIJ Exhaust will make an extension from any size s/s pipe with any size clamp-on expansion at one end for under £20 delivered. I've just had them make up an "exhaust joiner" from plain s/s pipe with one expansion (45mm ID) at one end but plain at the other end. Used it as a tailpipe. Arrived 2 days after the order was placed. Fitted onto the end of my exhaust perfectly. They'd make the exact length you want, if asked. I just chopped mine down from the standard size - gave me a chance to eye it up before deciding.

I needed something similar for the PUP. Seem to remember I bought a shiny end bit from halfords as I was passing. That's on a single box rc40
