Hi - for my next question….

I’m adding the missing brackets back on to my near side inner wing (water bottle and bonnet stay)

My car is 1984 and the heritage inner wing is slightly later - it has two brackets that were not on my original car.

Any ideas what they are for?

Any suggestions what to do?

1: remove them - The water bottle won’t fit with them in place

2: keep them - everyone loves a random bracket - and out the water bottle somewhere else - but where 🤔?

Thanks

3: make a stand off to lift the bottle holder away from the body clear of the brackets.

Total guess, but are they  to tie the ECU loom to for stress relief on the connectors???

Looking at your photo again, it looks like your too far towards the bulkhead with it.

I've measured mine, which was based off the old inner wing at 13cm to the center of the bracket.

It is tight to get the bottle on, but once its on its held firmly in place.

Hi CBJ805T

Am I being stupid here or missing something.

You say you are having trouble fitting to your near side inner wing on your 1984 Mini.

On my 1988 Mini and I am sure on many others before that date the water bottle holder and bonnet stay catch go on the off/driver's side inner wing.

Yes, the "near" refers to the kerb - but I never even noticed with  the photos.

I'd noticed from your first photo mine looked a lilttle close, but thanks for taking time time to measure.

And ignore my re:Near Side - posting too early in the morning to remember which side of the road I drive.  :D
