As per title, I've an Alpine head unit, Alpine amp, and an under-rear-seat speaker board with 3 - way 6*9's. Its been there for probably over 2 years now but I've never actually taken the time to set it all up!

So, user manual out..... First thing I wanted to check, the HU has 3 RCA outputs, Front, Rear, Sub. Seeing as I only have 1 set of speakers, the 3 ways under the rear seat, and I have no plans to install anything in the front, should I connect the amp driving just these pair of speakers to the HU's "front" or "rear" RCA connectors?

I'd imagine in a setup where one does have front and rear speakers (and a sub) the HU would send lower sounds to the "rear" RCA outputs? I just want to make best use of the speakers I have. I've not tested moving them around yet, as in the RCA connectors on the back of the HU.

There are lots of settings on the actual HU as well, bass, eq and fade front/rear so might need to play with that too. The amp only has a few switches and a dial, will get to that later!

With the fader control set in the middle position the head unit will output the same signal to the front and rear channels.  I would connect them to the rear channel simply because they are rear speakers.  Then set the fader all the way to the rear so the head unit isn't trying to output anything to the front channel when no speakers are connected.

Yes - as above.   You will then have the spare output for the front speakers in case you want to fit them to the dash or doors.  I have a couple of front speakers in the dash instead of air vents that had been blocked up and removed by a previous owner.  The 6x9's are a tight fit under the seat - I know from experience!!

Easiest option is to plug the amp into the Front RCA outputs. That way you get full control from the HU (volume, EQ, balance) without worrying about rear fade or sub-specific filtering. The HU doesn’t automatically send “lower sounds” to the rear RCAs that is handled by crossovers, not front/rear outputs. Once it’s connected, just set the fade to centre and tweak EQ/bass to taste. You can fine-tune the amp settings after
