Hi Guys
I have had to change a wheel bearing today.
The problem is..... I cannot get the C.V joint out of the hub.
It appears the bearings have welded themselves to the joint.
My main question is.... If I hit the end of the joint with a large hammer and it does come out am I going to wreck the hub as well?

Probably not, but it doesn't sound like you have much choice.

you will porberly kill the cv joint but the hub should be ok

Thats great, I didnt want to waste time trying to get it out if I had to buy both units anyway.

I don't know how mechanicly inclined you are but,
have you detatched the hub at the top and bottom swivels? if not the drive shaft will stop the CV going back enough.
assuming the bearing has become stuck on the CV (it does happen sometimes) put something against the end of the CV to help prevent the thread being damaged (brass bar or a copper mallet is ideal, NOT THE NUT!!) and give it a damn good beating, the CV will probably exit with the inner bearing race(s) stuck on it, with an angle grinder carfuly grind through one side of it you should then be able to lever/pry/chisel it off leaving the CV hopefully unscathed.

I am a qualified mechanic, normally with this job, it takes me longer to get my tools out and put them away.

Fair enough,
basicly the only bit that can get knackered is the thread on the end of the CV apart from that it's pretty straight forward.

Put the nut back on the end of the driveshaft so it is fully flush with the end of the threads. You are then hitting the nut and the threads at the same time and less chance of damaging each !
