Hi All,

My name is Paul Lambart, along with my brother Ian we are embarking on the restoration of a 1963 Riley Elf.

The car is a barn find and was partly stripped in readiness for track car, having had some modifications to accept a roll cage.

We have about 80% of the car, requiring bumpers, rear seats, head lining, general interior trim etc.

My brother ran a 1964 white Mini traveller as his first car, but always like the Elf. I'm more of a Land Rover man, but I must say its much easier pulling a Mini gearbox off the block than a 2.25 rover lump.

Getting back to the Elf, long with the car we have the loan of a CJ Autos rotisserie so we can easily work on the shell etc (more on that later).

We have been given a 1275 engine along with twin SU carbs, both will need overhaul.

Regarding the rotisserie, there are no adaptors available to mount the Mini body shell from CJ Autos, they advise making your own. Therefor our first question is does anyone have any sketch's/engineering drawings/measurements, that would help us fabricate the necessary frames please?

Regards

Ian & Paul

firstly welcome and have you considered the membership for £5 a year I think you get 7.5% discount at minispares (pays for itself on the first order and from then on it's usually at least enough to pay for the carriage)

secondly have you seen the build section for 'variants' which is here https://www.theminif...-mini-variants/ - you might want to start your own build thread or look at others' pics

for pictures I use Imgbb and get a link to copy/paste into comments (other methods are available)

various builds on here have people using spits, it's not so much needing dimensions so much as seeing where they bolted theirs on so you can just take your own measurements off the shell or know where to start building the bracket up from as it were.  I think essentially you use the 2 big front subframe holes in the bulkhead cross brace (possibly also joining to the steering rack mount or something) and in the back it's just across the two shock mounts inside the boot (but that might vary due to your model ?) maybe just into the back seat and/or floor if you're trying to replace the rear arches... depends what bit you're removing and what space you need I guess
