 Hi All,

As the title says and here is the reason why.

VIKTOR yesterday posted pictures of his newly biult garage in his topic 1976 Austin Mini 1000 Le Stripey and I cannot see them. Just the message saying they are not available in my area.

AVTOVAZ yesterday posted pictures of the last work he had done in his topic Lada 2103, these I can see.

Why is this? I thought having a good VPN is suppose to stop this happening.

Eager to read the explanations.

Paddy

Avotaz is in your area  O_O

....I think there was a similar topic recently - Maybe it's do with the adult content age verification we now have - if the images are hosted on a server that isn't playing according to our rules to filter the naughty stuff????

A VPN will still have a location, based on the IP address  at the other end of your private connection.

Hi Ethel,

Thank you for your reply.

AVTOVAZ is in Babylon and Ting England, where ever that is.

VIKTOR is in London and I am in Walton-on-Thames Surrey so I don't see that area has got anything to do with it.

So still as title says.

Victor is using Imgur (you will need a VPN) Autovaz is hosting them himself.

Hi,

I am using Norton VPN and as i say I cannot see Victor's pictures.

How does Avtovaz host them himself?

Paddy

I use IMgbb which seems to have escaped any issues at least for now

no it won't show them unles you have the VPN, it's just a way of identifying the host

IMGUR (the image hosting website) has blocked the UK from seeing any images

If you use a VPN you'll need to set your location to a country other than the UK

had a mess about with it today, didn't have any interest in opera, so tried the free VPN extension for chrome.  set to Amsterdam, works fine if a little slower while turned on.  switch back off for normal use.. sorted

it does try to persuade to pay money but you can skip it easy enough if you're paying attention.  or click back again if you weren't

https://chromewebsto...klcgno?hl=en-GB

once installed, choose location by clicking where it says 'optimal location' and then turn it on with the big power button.  power button again later to turn off

It's not just the UK. It doesn't work from Canada either.

Hi,

Having tried umpteen different cities/countries I finally managed to see Viktor's pictures setting my VPN to Brussels.

Paddy

It worked for me also by setting my VPN to Belgium.

I use Nordvpn for the following reasons.

a) It's usually in the top 3 on nearly all review sites.

b) I use different Linux Distros and it works on all of them which saves me money by just having one VPN provider (it allows up to 6 devices) instead of multiple VPN providers for different platforms. Wifey uses Windows and our Android phones.

I use my VPN all the time as it adds an extra layer of security for online banking etc.
