Hi - I'm trial fitting my front end.

I can get a nice gap ( £1 coin) between the bonnet and the scuttle, but when I try and open the bonnet, the bonnet return in the center (literally on the center line) of the bonnet catches the scuttle.

To prevent this, I need to open up the gap to 4-5mm

Can tips on how to improve this?

The bonnet brackets are fitted to the rearmost hole on the bulkhead bracket

thanks

Chris

Which one is the rearmost hole ? There is only 1 hole (per side) for the bonnet hinge.

I think 4-5 mm gap is pretty good.

Hi Chris

I don't think the manufacturing tolerances of budget British cars were that good in the day, if you can get it to 4-5mm that's really good, you should see mine!

Thanks guys - I was aiming for a £1 coin :-)

If you're saying 4-5mm is good, then presumably this is bigger than the gap between the wing and the scuttle? i.e as you look across the car, the gap between the wing / scuttle and bonnet /scuttle are not the same?

Have you definitely got the correct bonnet hinges. I had a nightmare with mine. I had to leave the wipers off to open the bonnet. I changed the hinges as there are about 4 different designs and magically a perfect gap and it opens nicely
