Morning guys,

I've just replaced the whole front end includinga full screen surround. It's been painted in synthetic paint.

I was curious to know how long people tend to wait before fitting the screen?

I know enamel paint takes an age to fully cure and I can't imagine any splashes of rubber lube will do it much good.

Thanks in advance, Luke

"Synthetic" is a broad term.  Some, like 2K paints need stoving.  Presumably yours is air drying.

They all dry, and then an oxygen reaction hardens them. Temperature is important, a hot summer day will dry it but it may take a hot summer fortnight to harden, maybe even longer.

Many people rush to get their car back on the road, but if doing up a Mini, there are usually other things to do and it sometimes takes me several months before I have to get round to fitting windows.

Thanks deadsquare,

Its 1k synthetic enamel. I didn't add any hardener. I suppose with English weather, there's no rush to get it back on the road.
