A MINI has been almost completely swallowed by a sinkhole in Cornwall.
Malcolm McKenzie, the car’s owner, was alerted on Saturday by a neighbour in the former mining town of Redruth, where holes have previously opened up above disused mineshafts.
He said: “The neighbour knocked on the door and asked if that was my Mini outside. I said yes, and she told me it was stuck in a hole.
“I went outside and expected to find a pothole under one of the wheels – and then saw the front end of the car about 4ft in the air.”
Redruth’s mining past means such collapses, while alarming, are not entirely unheard of.
