At the recent NEC show, MiniSport had Mike Cooper's car on show, built from new parts. It had their electric power steering conversion fitted (about £2k to buy the column, motor and wiring). Has anyone fitted this unit to an MPI? My MPI engined Clubman estate is on 13" Sportpack wheels and apparently it's a game changer with 13"wheels.

Never seen a Rover power steering kit for the Mini. Most people use a Corsa electric colum.

It's not a Rover kit, it's a German made complete kit sold by MiniSport. Wonder if Santa might bring me one!

I'm not overly bothered with the idea of power steering personally (using 'normal' wheels for one thing) but a column with a collapsible section would be a really good option I think

I agree if you have 10 or 12" standard wheels but 175 13s make it heavy at parking speeds and now in our mid 70's, could perhaps benefit from a bit of assistance. The kit is almost invisible and the motor unit is hidden by the dash rail. I built the car myself many years ago and have not spent very much on it, so feel we both deserve it (me and the car!). It seems expensive but my Cousin has just spent £3k sorting out EGR/ad-blue pump faults on his 4 year old Kuga.

The one Minisport are selling looks like the EZ Powersteering column manufactured in the Netherlands.

 

I fitted one to my 94 Mayfair.

 

It was just a like for like swap just had an issue fitting the cowl which EZ helped me sort.

 

Probably the most difficult part was where to site the ECU eventually settled above the heater where there is ample room.

 

I also purchased the narrower air duct from 'Classic Mini NLA: Rare and Alternative Parts' on Facebook which gave me more room to mount the motor higher up.
