Hello all,
I have just started my mini journey by buying a 1999 Cooper S (I think) and have got it home.
I was having some issues with starting, or, rather, a slow, laboured turnover, that would then spring into life. Anyway as first stage I replaced the battery, but that didn’t seem to help the turnover. Then very recently I ran the battery down trying to start, but then, it just seemed to go dead. Not even the immobiliser light on the dash.
I re-charged the batter and connected back up (yes I have checked this is correctly done) and it is still completely dead!
Any thoughts?
Thank you.

Welcome.Take off and clean the battery earth lead at the body end.Take off and clean the engine to body earth lead at both ends.If either are braided straps then strongly suggest changing them.Give the underneath battery cable a good looking at to check it has not worn through anywhere.Start here.Steve..
