Hi, unusual question,  The stem of an inlet valve of a 1275cc engine is 9/32", this is the same size as the spindle on a record player.

I am in the process of making a record player - yes, I know you can buy one but where is the fun in that!!

I have a new inlet vaklve from a Moriss Minor spares supplier BUT the guide they sent is steel - the same a the valve - not good for running surfaces to be the same material.

My question, is the valve guide on a Mini made of steel or bronze?  If it is bronze, does anyone have one to sell?

Strange I know but when you get to my age - stupid is normal.

Thanks in advance

Valve guides are actually iron, which has a certain amount of lubrancy , but I would have thought you would be better off with some sort of sealed bearing as you obviously need a max RPM of 78 ( yes I'm old enough to remember my parents having 78's )

I still have my Nan's 1940s 78rpm player and her shellac record collection. Good fun to play but a pain to wind up every few minutes! Good luck with your turntable project.
