How are y'all mounting USA front license plate to bumper on a 1990 mini?

Weld, rivet or bolt a couple of brackets, like the ones arrowed in the picture, under the front bumper and mount the license plate on them.

I've broken enough Euro size plates under the bumper. Mounting one on the grille could double as a distributor rain shield. How about a Rover SD1 style plinth to mount it in front of the bumper?

What you want is something like an 14A8455AUST which puts the plate in front of the bumper. One could easily be made up.

I havent run a front plate (New Jersey) in the 21 years of owning my SPi. I just could not bring myself to put on on and have it look so awful. I have beed stopped for various things (speeding, registration laps, etc) and, and maybe it's the car, the right hand drive, whatever, they NEVER mention the plate. In my early days, I would carry the plate and planned to tell them I was waiting for a factory bracket to arrive from "overseas"...but I never had to. ha
