Does anyone know where to get the old school methylene chloride paint stripper, eg: the OLD nitromors?
Ive tried a couple of auto paint places but they dont sell it.
Im baulking a bit at 50 quid for 5 ltrs online as I only need a couple at the most.
If anyone knows of any in the Leeds area let me know please 👍

Starchem Synstryp works like old school nitromors, (may be what you've already looked at) but I've only seen it in 5 litre containers and it appears to be close to £50 with postage.

Starchem Synstryp all the way. I did a ‘30s Austin 7 with it last year and it doesn’t half tear through paint.

Make sure you wear good quality ppe though, it will burn your lungs.

I've given up on chemicals and just use a wire wheel on the grinder, it's noisy (especially on a bare shell) but you can clear large areas in fairly quick time.  and then a smaller one on a drill for the little corners

I figure you'll want to give it a good brushing anyway to get nice bare steel, why not just do it all in one go

it's also the cost of one wire wheel https://www.screwfix...MBoCiesQAvD_BwE

wear gloves and full face guard, it does tend to fling bits.  have pulled bits out of my beard a couple times lol and they can pierce into the skin through jumpers etc

you may have to take the guard off the ginder for clearance until it wears down a bit (another reason for good gloves)

Ive done most of the car with drill and wire brush and now its the rear seat pan and inside the boot.
Im not the most agile of people so thought the good old paint stripper would sort this quickly.
What sirt of breathing ppe is required?
Going to need it inside the boot 😳

most of the rear seat pan just chipped out with a bit of careful chiselling on mine, it was the same sort of bitumen (whatever) stuff as the floor

agreed though the boot area is a real pain in the arse.  or back, or whatever crazy angle you're leaning in at

This shell has the factory paint and then hammerite on top of that(the whole shell was hammerited inside). Some of it flakes off but sods law is in operation here and on the seat pan and boot interior its stuck like the proverbial to a blanket 😳

Possibly not helpful, but I have a guy who does soda blasting near me, (London Borough of Bromley). I've seen several Minis being stripped there.

Mainly while I've been getting motorcycle tanks stripped down to bare metal. Soda leaves a nice finish, provides a good surface key and is my paint spray guy's preferred option.
