I wonder if someone can help me on this one please. 2000MPI. Wipers work immediately on wash/wipe ( pull the stalk) but on the "twist" on the stalk the vari/normal/fast speeds don't start immediately and can take up to approximaely 3 minutes to start. Work OK until shut off, then the delay commences again. Any help apprreciated, thanks.

David.

It's quite hard to  follow as there's a control unit & multiple contacts. However, if the wipers do their thing when you hit the screen wash that suggests the low speed side of the motor is ok.

Likewise for the fast position. The low speed bit of the switch is more of an off switch as it should connect to the (low speed) motor in all but the fast position - so you could test that by pushing the screen wash in all positions. If all that works out, I'd suspect the control module. That or it isn't getting the nod from the stalk in the int position, via the light green/green wire. (nod means 12v all the time the stalk's in the int position with the radio and/or heater blower also functional).

I'm not familiar with with the intermittent  controller, but the wiring diagram shows 6 terminals on it,  which is the same as the Lanny Defender's. It's red & lives under the speedo.

When you find the lil box of magic it should have two light green/brown wires. Jumper them together &  you should get similar functionality as old time Minis.

Thanks for your help. I'll give that a go. Hmm. car is 26 years old - wipers have been used about 23 times since new! Once a year from 3 years on. :proud: .
