Hi all, had a weird problem happen 2 weeks ago and again today, I think it could be a starter issue but just looking for some confirmation.

1992 SPi, no lights on the dash, no fuel pump, nothing when I turn the key.

Today’s fix,
Undid and redid the nut on the starter, this resulted in lights reappearing on the dash but, when I went to start the car, the starter clicked off like the battery was flat (it isn’t) and lost all lights again.

Undid and redid the nut again. This time the car fired up straight away with no issues.

Does this sound like a bad starter/solenoid? It’s the original one to the car.

I had this exact fault about 2 weeks ago. I was messing about with cables in the engine bay and the power kept coming and going. Clean up the earth cable connections in the boot, it what caused mine. I took the cables off, made sure all the surfaces were shiny metal and it's been fine since.
