All previous mini's have been a lovely little a-series set up with a simple and easy insurance experience, my 1972 Clubman Estate however...

I'm looking at either a 1.4 or 1.6 - most likely rover, but wondered if anyone has advice on insurance of a classic body with a k-series engine. Who's good? What popped up as surprises?

Hoping now I'll be mid 30s once he's finished vs when I started the project in my early 20s it'll be a better result  :teehee:

I don't understand the question, are you looking for suggestions for another car?  I would say get a honda civic in that case, they're brilliant

or are you looking for a donor car with k series in it, which you can take out and put in a mini

Reads as an insurance question about an engine swap to me.

I'd expect the driver, location, etc to make way more difference than actual engine. Just it being modified will take you into a different world insurance wise. My main concern would be keeping it legal. If it breaches regulations it could invalidate your insurance anyway. Avoid structural mods where you can, especially cutting lumps out of the bulkhead & anything that can't be easily reversed.

Have a nose around 16v Mini Club if you haven't already.

Yes, sorry for lack of clarity but interested in experiences getting insured with a K-series in place of an A-series.

Project build with my dad and it's the first k-series mini for me so wasn't sure what insurance experience was like with this change. Custom subframe etc to take weight and not going mad - just increased reliability more for me.

Previously insurance was easy but this is slightly unknown territory on the insurance side! Will have a peek in the forum Ethel mentioned, ta!
