When a friend brought me some boxes of bits and asked me to rebuild his father's engine, I said "Yes" too soon.
Apart from the studs in the block, there were no nuts or bolts, so I bought an assortment of washers, studding, nuts and locktite.

can you not get the ones that are 1/4" too long and just cut them down. give the ends a slight bevel so it goes in the thread nicely

I always use the 1/2" AF bolts with a spring washer as fitted on all the earlier cars.

How many do you need? I should have some.
They are available new, listed as 1" long (I know there are some slightly longer clutch cover ones too):

3, one to replace the one with knackered threads and 2 to replace the odd ones with the sunken heads that also appear to be softer/easier to round off (yes I know no one is going to notice two of the bolts have odd heads, but my ocd will)How many do you need? I should have some.
