I'm after a few original 5/16 UNC x1" (the clutch cover ones are 1/4" too long) differential side cover bolts, as the ones I've removed aren't good and have ruined the threads in the gearbox casing (since helicoiled) I could just buy new ones, but those have a 1/2" across flats head, as apossed to the standard 7/16" head size of the standard ones.

When a friend brought me some boxes of bits and asked me to rebuild his father's engine, I said "Yes" too soon.

Apart from the studs in the block, there were no nuts or bolts, so I bought an assortment of washers, studding, nuts and locktite.

can you not get the ones that are 1/4" too long and just cut them down.  give the ends a slight bevel so it goes in the thread nicely
