"Tucked away in Baoying, China, is a behemoth manufacturing plant quietly reshaping the classic car market by producing high-end replica bodies and components for some of the world’s most iconic cars."

Probably like the chinese moke, none of the parts are compatible or interchangeable with the real classics. We shall have to see but I would rather have the real thing not chinese knock off.

The minimum order for these is currently 10 pieces. So, there'd need to be a brave UK reseller will to roll the dice on quality. I wonder what the cost to a customers door would be with delivery, VAT, duty etc. I have no knowledge on these kind of costs.

As they are mainly a reproduction panel company and are just expanding to do all the parts for the cars.

it’s nothing new really. There are UK named companies doing the same. Would not be surprised if this not make the panels for them.

Now if memory serves me right and i have written this before Magnum panels for the Mk1 Mexico come from China, so the MST Escorts are they Chinese as well??

A little bit of history around the Mk1 Escort Mexico. Type 49 bodies which included slightly flared front arches so not generic. These are now like the Mk2 RS 2000 Droop snoot front wings are much rarer than unicorn poo and hens teeth.

I cannot remember the chaps name but this particular individual saw a opening for getting the Mk1 wings remade and went to various companies in the UK which proved to fruitless and expensive. So a look around elsewhere led him to China. He did find a company there that could make the wings to the same tolerance as Fords original (or so they claimed) but the batch pressed were not good enough. He parted ways with this company and eventually found another. The same process was applied, same tolerances etc and more importantly price and they did indeed provide a very acceptable product. This i believe is now what Magnum supply amongst other panels for the escort.

This is an abbreviated telling of the story but shows that whatever people say or think about products from China, not all of them are junk. They have the capacity to make stuff a heck of a lot cheaper than European and American companies and yes some of it is beyond rubbish (wheel bearings spring to mind here) but they are far from unskilled and if quality control is good then their products can be on par with a lot of what is produced in our so called top production.

Surely you can build one in the UK , under IVA, you just can't pass it off as an original.

They don't ship to anywhere but the mainland United States, shipping costs to the United States for the panels is 2.5 x the cost of the panels plus $350 processing fee. The cars bodies must be done on another costing otherwise it would cost about approx $28,000 to ship a 240z shell

Presumption correct. Better things to waste my time on.

As ever, shipping & importing is more of an issue. The video did suggest there was a domestic market, at least for the Toyota.
