I've bought this kit from minispares (WZX1335) to replace the weak return springs, as the choke isn't fully returning.

But I can't work out how the smaller spring of the two fits as it different to the original.

For now I've cleaned everything, polished the brass tubes and refitted with the new larger spring from the kit, which is much improved. But I still can't work out how the other spring is supposed to fit, it must be the right kit as it's the only springs available.

You should be able to work it out from these. The small spring is attached as in pic 2. The larger spring the straight end goes under the dimple on the body pic 3 and the bent end is visible in pic 2. This is a RH standard jet. Didn’t know there was Rh and a Lh Hs4 carburettor.

There’s LH and RH spring kits available in both waxstat and plain jets, so more options than the one at Minispares

The jeans photo looks correct to me. One spring is for the fast idle. The cable pulls the cam against the idle screw first. Once the cam plate reaches  the shoulder on the choke lever proper it will start to push against the other spring.

I've had a play with fitted the springs to a spare carburetor. What it appears is the kit on minispares if for a standard jet hs4, but I've got the latter waxstat carb and such needed wzx1339.

But I have got the smaller spring fitted and working on the spare carb with a little bit of tweaking to get it to sit right.
